Biographical
Guy had over forty years of human resources and labour relations experience before becoming an arbitrator/mediator; first as a union representative then later as a labour relations consultant in both Ontario and Western Canada. This experience included negotiating and administering collective agreements and advocacy at arbitration, labour board and workers compensation board hearings. As well he represented parties at harassment hearings. The consulting work also involved general human resources issues including drafting human resources and employee relations policies, participation in job evaluation studies and job evaluation arbitrations. In addition the experience has included serving as a nominee on numerous boards of arbitration (both grievance and interest) as well as for two years serving as a part-time member of the Ontario Crown Employees Grievance Settlement Board. Employment Insurance appeals at both Board of Referees and Umpire hearings is also included in this experience. In addition Guy has been a Labour Relations Manager for a large multi-national energy company. Guy became an independent arbitrator/mediator in 2000. He has since received numerous individual arbitration or mediation appointments and been named in a number of collective agreements. As a result he has conducted numerous arbitration or mediation hearings and issued awards in both BC and AB as well as Federal. In addition Guy has been appointed to investigate/report and mediate or arbitrate on numerous harassment complaints.

Education
Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Political Studies, University of Guelph. Also took a number of courses in the Master of Industrial Relations degree programme on a part-time basis at the University of Toronto This has been followed by numerous shorter courses, workshops and seminars in arbitration, expedited arbitration, negotiations, labour law, and workers compensation over the past years both as a participant and an instructor.

Rates Information
Fee for 1 hearing day and preparation of award approx. $3,500.00 plus expenses. Additional days are at approx. $3,500.00 per day.
